Family Legacy Recovery

Tax sale surplus funds recovery.

When a property is sold for unpaid taxes and brings in more than was owed, the extra may belong to the former owner or their family. We find the people it belongs to and help them recover it, with nothing to pay up front.

A private company, not the government.

Why Michael started this

Life doesn't always go the way a family planned.

Michael's parents had a plan for their life together. Then his mom died, and his dad had to raise his children on his own and build a different life. That's why Michael started Family Legacy Recovery: when life has taken a turn nobody planned, he wants to help families get back what may still be theirs.

What happens after a tax sale

How a tax sale can leave money behind.

  1. Taxes fell behind

Often over a hard stretch: an illness, a lost job, a death in the family.

  2. The property sold for more than was owed

What was left over may belong to the former owner, or to their family.

  3. Nobody told you

Most people never hear about it. That's where we come in.

What would a little breathing room mean for you this year?

How it works

Four stages, start to finish.

  1. Find

Finding the people a tax sale left money for is our work. We usually contact you first.

  2. Decide

You get our terms in writing before you sign. Nothing up front. Walk away any time before that.

  3. Claim

Once you've signed, you get the full details, and we handle the claim.

  4. Recover

You're asked to prove who you are, so the money goes to the right person.

Why work with us

You could do this yourself. You don't have to.

Claiming this money means paperwork: forms, records and proof that all have to line up, and it's easy for that to get messy and confusing. If you'd rather not spend your evenings on it, that's the part we take off your hands.

  • We handle the paperwork. We prepare it, check it and keep track of it, so you don't have to.
  • No learning curve. We already know what this kind of claim asks for, so you don't have to figure it out from scratch.
  • Peace of mind. Get on with your life while we deal with the red tape. Michael keeps you updated along the way.
  • Your information stays private. Michael is the only person at the company who sees it.
  • Nothing unless you're paid. No upfront cost, and if nothing is recovered, you owe nothing.

Anyone who is owed this money can claim it without a company. If you'd rather do it yourself, that's your right.

Is this legitimate?

You're right to be careful.

A stranger calling about money is exactly what a scam sounds like. So here is what protects you. None of it asks you to take our word for it.

We'll tell you more on the phone, and everything once you've signed up. Until then it costs you nothing.

The number we call from is the one on this page: 385-787-6279. If you'd rather we didn't call again, tell us and we won't.

Before you sign anything, we will never ask you for

  • Money
  • Bank details
  • Your Social Security number
  • A deed, or anything that signs over your property

If someone who says they're from Family Legacy Recovery asks for any of these before you've signed, it isn't us.

Questions people ask

See all questions

Why did I get a call or letter from you?

Because a tax sale may have left money for you or your family, and finding the people it belongs to is what we do. We call from the number on this site. If you'd rather we didn't contact you again, tell us and we won't.

How did you get my number?

Finding people is part of the research we do. If you'd rather we didn't call again, say so and we won't.

Are you the government?

No. Family Legacy Recovery LLC is a private company registered in Utah. We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government or court.

Is this a scam?

Fair question, and worth asking anyone who calls you about money, including us. What protects you isn't our word, it's how this works: you pay nothing up front, we're paid only if you are, and everything is in writing before you sign. Before you sign anything, we will never ask you for money, bank details or your Social Security number. Call us and ask anything.

Get started

Sooner is easier.

After a while, getting this money can get harder. When that point comes depends on the government holding it, so wherever you are, sooner is easier. And if some of that money is yours, the sooner it's settled, the sooner it can make room for the things you've put off.
